Ahead of the new silhouette's launch in the classic "Banned" colorway, our good friends at Stadium Goods lent us a pair of the Air Jordan 1 Hi OG Retro from last year to give you a side-by-side look at the two sneakers. The iconic black and red colorway is back, but this time the leather upper has been replaced with Nike's popular textile material. The modern tech gives the shoe a lightweight construction while maintaining its traditional look. Leather hits are still present on the Nike Swoosh, Air Jordan Wings logo, and tongue. Most notably, the Air Jordan 1 Retro Flyknit is… well, Flyknit. Some you may be reminded of the AJ1 featuring Flyweave construction from the MTM pack released in 2015, but this new sneaker is in a league of its own. has officially introduced the "Banned" Air Jordan 1 Flyknit, featuring a yarn-like upper as well as a Zoom Air unit in the heel, which also differs from the standard Air Jordan 1. All classic Nike sneakers will eventually be reintroduced in Flyknit, the latest being the Air Jordan 1. This Flyknit edition of the Air Jordan 1 features a Black, Varsity Red and White color combination which is commonly referred to as "Banned" or "Bred". While using the same color blocking, the uppers are constructed with Flyknit while the Nike Swoosh, Wings branding receives the leather treatment. , Following a look at Dave White's original Air Jordan 1 that he's been painting in for 20 years, we now take a look at yet another painting Michael Jordan-related creation. The Wings and Swoosh logos, as well as the tongue tag and inner lining are all done in leather. Size and production information are printed on the interior in metallic gold, along with a 1985 graphic to celebrate the launch year. This artist seen on GC911 Instagram account took a pair of the Air Jordan 1 Banned from the 2009 Defining Moments Pack and used it as his paintbrush to complete a rookie Michael Jordan painting.
