Just how do a leading preacher or pastor who thousands follow and millions abroad began to know and love find yourself behaving in immoral techniques most everyday church members would not? It is a question I am sometimes asked. The question has become occasioned by the recent conduct of some prominent Christian leaders. Some of those who raise such question will be in effect questioning whether such spiritual leaders possess a genuine relationship together with the Lord. I have faith that these occurrences highlight the need for the need to renew our mind.
The Bible informs us to, "Be ye transformed through the renewing of your respective mind" (Romans 12:2). Paul the apostle was inspired to write these words towards the church at Rome. In other words, these words were not inclined to the entire world but for the believers in Christ.
What makes this an important point? Because although persons whom Paul was writing to were already Christians, he tells them they must become transformed by renewing their mind. This aspect lays the inspiration for I must address in the following paragraphs.
The primary point is although we are born again and turned into a brand new creation as soon as we accept Christ as our Savior, the renewing of our system is not instantaneous. And simply because we now have become born again doesn't imply we do not have messed up assuming that must be managed.
God does not want us to think as the world does. He wants us to get a God-focused view about life. As an example, I sense that many Christians are troubled from the events currently happening in our world: The economy isn't good, rental destruction are abounding plus more destructive, crimes have grown to be more unthinkable, our government is virtually dysfunctional, etc.
But because God's people, our faith needs to be in Him rather than from the systems of this world. His capability to give His people is just not at the mercy of the state the economy or another type. She has provided us the Word of God to change our attitude so that organic beef have this sort of faith-filled perspective.
Just what exactly happens if we decide to not result in the renewing of our own mind a priority? I undergo you that a real decision could have negative affect our fellowship with God. Contemplate it. Before we located Christ, i was living from the processed foods of the world: music with objectionable lyrics, pornography, dysfunctional family settings, promiscuity, emotional or physical abuse, etc. To be attuned to God and be able to sense the leadership of His Spirit in our life, we've got to understand this junk away from our mind and renew our thinking being one with Him. Again, our main tool for achieving this change of brain is the phrase of God.
This call to be transformed by the renewing of our system is not an option but a commandment: "Let this mind maintain you, which has been and in Christ Jesus" (Philippians. 2:5). In essence, this verse is really a commandment to allow your head of Christ to control our lives. If our having the mind of Christ was incidental to accepting Christ, the commandment for individuals to "let this mind have you" would have been a vain point, however this is not the case. To hold the mindset of Christ, we've got to make personal investment in to the process.
